Request an RBD Coconut Oil CIF Price Quotation from Indonesia
Are you searching for an RBD coconut oil CIF price quotation for your next international procurement requirement?
Indonesia Export Center (IEC) facilitates sourcing and export enquiries for Indonesian coconut oil products, including Standard RBD Coconut Oil for buyers evaluating international bulk supply arrangements.
For importers, industrial manufacturers, ingredient distributors and procurement teams, obtaining an accurate CIF quotation requires more than knowing the product price per metric ton.
A complete quotation should identify the agreed destination port, product quantity, packaging, shipment period, ocean freight arrangements, marine insurance requirements and applicable commercial terms.
Under CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) – Incoterms® 2020, the seller contracts and pays for carriage to the named destination port and obtains the cargo insurance required by the CIF rule.
However, the seller’s payment of freight and insurance does not mean that risk transfers at the destination port. Under CIF, risk generally transfers when the goods are delivered on board the vessel at the port of shipment.
IEC welcomes enquiries from international buyers seeking to evaluate:
- Standard RBD Coconut Oil specifications
- CIF price per metric ton
- Destination port quotation
- Packaging requirements
- Bulk order quantity
- Ocean freight arrangements
- Marine cargo insurance
- Shipment schedules
- Certificate of Analysis requirements
- Export documentation
- Payment and contractual terms

2. What Is CIF in International Coconut Oil Trading?
CIF stands for Cost, Insurance and Freight.
It is one of the Incoterms® 2020 rules used for sea and inland waterway transport.
Under CIF, the seller generally arranges and pays for carriage to the named destination port and obtains the insurance required by the rule.
The buyer and seller must still agree on the product, price, quantity, shipment terms and required documents.
3. Understanding the CIF Price
A CIF quotation normally reflects the agreed goods value, relevant shipment costs and the required insurance arrangements.
The exact commercial breakdown depends on the transaction.
For procurement comparison, buyers may request a quotation that separately identifies:
- Goods value
- Freight cost
- Insurance cost
- Total CIF value
4. CIF Price Calculation
A simplified commercial calculation is:
CIF Value = Goods Value + Freight + Insurance
The actual quotation must reflect the agreed Incoterm, named destination port and included charges.
5. CIF Price per Metric Ton
For bulk procurement, CIF pricing may be expressed per metric ton.
CIF Price per MT = Total CIF Value ÷ Contracted Quantity in MT
This calculation is useful for comparing offers with equivalent specifications, quantities and destinations.
6. Illustrative CIF Calculation
The following example is for calculation purposes only.
| Hypothetical Component | Illustrative Amount |
|---|---|
| Goods Value | USD 20,000 |
| Freight | USD 2,000 |
| Insurance | USD 100 |
| Total CIF Value | USD 22,100 |
| Quantity | 20 MT |
| CIF Price per MT | USD 1,105 |
These figures are hypothetical and are not current coconut oil prices, freight rates, insurance premiums or IEC quotations.
Actual commercial figures must be confirmed.
7. Why CIF Prices Differ by Destination
The destination port may affect:
- Ocean freight rates
- Vessel routing
- Transit arrangements
- Carrier surcharges
- Insurance considerations
- Shipment availability
Two CIF quotations should not be treated as equivalent if they refer to different destination ports.
8. Importance of the Named Destination Port
A complete CIF quotation should state:
CIF [Named Port of Destination] – Incoterms® 2020
The port should be clearly identified.
A quotation stating only “CIF worldwide” is insufficient for final pricing and contractual planning.
9. Destination Country vs Destination Port
A destination country alone may not provide enough information for an accurate freight quotation.
Buyers should specify the preferred destination port and, where relevant, any required onward delivery arrangements.
10. Indonesian Port of Shipment
The actual Indonesian port of shipment depends on the supplier’s location, product availability and logistics arrangements.
No loading port has been confirmed for this offer.
11. Ocean Freight Cost Variables
Freight costs may depend on:
- Origin and destination ports
- Shipping route
- Cargo quantity
- Packaging format
- Container requirements
- Carrier availability
- Shipment period
- Applicable surcharges
12. Freight Rate Validity
Ocean freight rates may change.
Buyers should request a clear quotation validity period and identify whether freight is confirmed or indicative.
13. Marine Cargo Insurance Under CIF
Under CIF Incoterms® 2020, the seller must obtain cargo insurance meeting the minimum coverage required by the rule unless different coverage is agreed.
The buyer should review the actual policy terms and exclusions.
14. Minimum CIF Insurance Coverage
The standard CIF rule requires insurance meeting at least the minimum coverage contemplated by the rule, generally corresponding to Institute Cargo Clauses (C) or equivalent, subject to the applicable wording.
It also requires coverage of at least 110% of the contract price in the contract currency.
Buyers needing broader protection should negotiate it explicitly.
15. Additional Insurance Coverage
Buyers may request broader insurance protection where appropriate.
Additional coverage may affect the quotation.
No insurance policy or premium has been verified.
16. CIF Insurance Is Not an All-Risks Guarantee
The insurance required by the CIF rule does not automatically cover every possible loss or damage.
Buyers should examine:
- Covered risks
- Exclusions
- Deductibles
- Insured amount
- Claims procedures
- Policy duration
17. When Does Risk Transfer Under CIF?
Under CIF, risk generally transfers when the goods are delivered on board the vessel at the port of shipment.
This is different from the destination port to which the seller pays freight.
18. CIF Cost Responsibility vs Risk Responsibility
The seller’s responsibility to pay freight to the named destination port does not mean the seller retains all transit risk.
Cost allocation and risk transfer are separate concepts under Incoterms®.
19. Seller Responsibilities Under CIF
Under the standard CIF rule, the seller generally must:
- Supply conforming goods
- Provide the required commercial invoice
- Arrange carriage to the named destination port
- Obtain the required cargo insurance
- Complete export clearance where applicable
- Deliver the goods on board at the port of shipment
- Provide the required transport and insurance documents
20. Buyer Responsibilities Under CIF
The buyer generally must:
- Pay the agreed contract price
- Handle import clearance
- Pay applicable import duties and taxes
- Manage destination responsibilities allocated to the buyer
- Arrange onward delivery where required
The contract should identify any additional responsibilities.
21. CIF Does Not Automatically Include Import Duties
Import duties, import taxes and destination customs clearance are generally buyer responsibilities under the standard CIF rule.
They should not be assumed included in the quoted CIF price.
22. CIF Does Not Automatically Mean Door-to-Door Delivery
CIF names a destination port, not the buyer’s warehouse.
Onward transport and destination services should be separately reviewed.
23. Destination Terminal Charges
The allocation of destination terminal and unloading charges depends on the applicable CIF rule, carriage contract and agreed terms.
Buyers should request clarification rather than assume that every destination charge is included or excluded.
24. CIF vs FOB
| Consideration | CIF | FOB |
|---|---|---|
| Full Name | Cost, Insurance and Freight | Free On Board |
| Main Carriage | Seller Contracts and Pays | Buyer Generally Arranges |
| Seller Insurance Obligation | Yes, as Required by CIF | No Equivalent Requirement |
| Named Location | Destination Port | Shipment Port |
| Risk Transfer | On-Board Delivery at Shipment Port | On-Board Delivery at Shipment Port |
| Transport Mode | Sea and Inland Waterway | Sea and Inland Waterway |
25. CIF vs CFR
CFR requires the seller to arrange and pay for carriage to the named destination port.
CIF includes an additional seller obligation to obtain the insurance required by the CIF rule.
26. CIF vs CIP
CIP and CIF have different transport applications and delivery rules.
CIP can be used for any transport mode, whereas CIF is designed for sea and inland waterway transport.
Their default insurance requirements also differ.
27. CIF vs DAP
DAP and CIF involve different delivery points and risk allocation.
A buyer seeking delivery to a warehouse or inland destination may wish to evaluate DAP or another suitable term.
28. CIF for Containerised Coconut Oil
For containerised shipments handed over to a carrier before loading on board, CIP may be more appropriate than CIF, depending on the intended delivery arrangement.
Buyers should select the Incoterm that accurately reflects how and where the cargo is delivered.
29. Standard RBD Coconut Oil Technical Specifications
IEC’s supplied Standard RBD Coconut Oil reference includes:
| Quality Parameter | Reference Specification |
|---|---|
| Colour in 5¼-inch Cell | 0.7–1.0 Red (Max) |
| Free Fatty Acid as Lauric | 0.1% (Max) |
| Iodine Value (Wijs) | 7.5–10.5 |
| Moisture & Impurities | 0.1% (Max) |
Important: The colour entry combines a range and a maximum designation. The actual acceptance limit and measurement method must be clarified.
These values are reference specifications, not verified results for a particular shipment.
30. Free Fatty Acid (FFA)
The supplied Standard RBD reference specifies:
FFA as Lauric: 0.1% Maximum
Buyers should request a current specification and relevant batch test results.
31. Moisture and Impurities
The supplied reference specifies:
Moisture & Impurities: 0.1% Maximum
Buyers may require separate moisture and impurities results depending on the application.
32. Iodine Value
The supplied reference specifies:
Iodine Value (Wijs): 7.5–10.5
A batch-specific result should be requested where required.
33. Colour Specification
The supplied reference specifies:
Colour in 5¼-inch Cell: 0.7–1.0 Red (Max)
The manufacturer should clarify the intended acceptance criterion and method.
34. Certificate of Analysis
A batch-specific COA may help buyers verify reported quality results.
It should be linked to the actual material being purchased.
No verified batch COA has been supplied.
35. Additional Testing Requirements
Depending on the application, buyers may request:
- Peroxide value
- Separate moisture
- Insoluble impurities
- Fatty acid profile
- Relevant contaminants
- Other application-specific tests
No additional analytical results are claimed.
36. Food-Grade Requirements
Food applications may require additional verification of:
- Food safety management systems
- Relevant contaminants
- Traceability
- Packaging suitability
- Regulatory compliance
- Customer-specific standards
RBD refining alone does not establish food-grade suitability.
37. Product Packaging and CIF Pricing
Packaging can affect the overall quotation.
Buyers should identify their preferred packaging before requesting a final price.
38. Steel Drum Packaging
Steel drums may be considered for buyers requiring individual packaging units.
Availability, capacity, lining, fill weight and loading arrangements must be confirmed.
39. IBC Packaging
IBC tanks may be considered for suitable intermediate bulk handling.
IBC availability, capacity and product compatibility require confirmation.
40. Flexitank Packaging
Flexitank arrangements may be considered for suitable bulk liquid shipments.
Availability, compatibility, carrier approval and loading procedures must be verified.
41. Packaging Comparison
| Packaging Format | Main Procurement Consideration | Verification Required |
|---|---|---|
| Steel Drums | Individual packaged units | Capacity, lining, quantity, loading |
| IBC Tanks | Intermediate bulk handling | IBC specification, fill weight, compatibility |
| Flexitank | Bulk liquid transport | Suitability, carrier approval, filling and discharge |
| Other Bulk Format | Buyer-specific requirements | Technical and logistical feasibility |
No packaging format is confirmed as available.
42. CIF Quote Quantity
Buyers should specify the required quantity in metric tons.
The supplier should confirm:
- MOQ
- Available quantity
- Packaging configuration
- Quantity tolerance
- Shipment feasibility
43. Indicative 20 MT Planning
A buyer may request a quotation for approximately 20 MT as a planning scenario.
However, this does not establish that a 20 MT shipment is available or feasible in the requested packaging.
The final quantity depends on product availability, packaging, equipment and transport limits.
44. Net Weight vs Gross Weight
The buyer should distinguish:
Net Weight: Weight of the coconut oil.
Gross Weight: Weight including the relevant packaging.
These values affect cargo planning and documentation.
45. Container Payload and Loading
A loading plan should consider:
- Container payload
- Packaging weight
- Weight distribution
- Cargo securing
- Carrier requirements
- Destination regulations
No loading quantity is guaranteed.
46. CIF Price and Shipment Period
Freight and product pricing may change with the shipment period.
Buyers should specify their target shipment month or delivery window.
47. Production and Packaging Lead Time
Lead time may depend on:
- Product availability
- Production schedule
- Packaging procurement
- Quality testing
- Inspection
- Export documentation
No fixed lead time is guaranteed.
48. Transit Time
Transit time depends on the route, carrier, vessel schedule and other logistics conditions.
No transit time is guaranteed.
49. Export Documentation
Depending on the transaction, documents may include:
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Bill of lading or other transport document
- Certificate of Origin
- Certificate of Analysis
- Insurance certificate or policy
- Other agreed documents
50. Insurance Documentation
Under CIF, the seller should provide the insurance document required by the applicable rule and contract.
The buyer should confirm that the document is suitable for making a claim if necessary.
51. Bill of Lading
The bill of lading should reflect the actual shipment and contractual requirements.
Documentary requirements should be agreed before shipment.
52. Certificate of Origin
A Certificate of Origin may be required depending on the destination and transaction.
Availability and eligibility must be verified.
53. Certification Requests
Buyers may request information about relevant certifications.
No Halal, ISO, HACCP or other certification is claimed without supplier verification.
54. Import Requirements
Import requirements depend on the destination country, product classification and intended application.
Buyers should verify the applicable rules before shipment.
55. Import Duties and Taxes
Duties and taxes vary by destination.
No tariff rate or tax amount is claimed.
56. Customs Classification
The correct customs classification should be confirmed for the actual product and destination.
No specific HS code is asserted.
57. Landed Cost Beyond CIF
A buyer’s total landed cost may include:
- CIF value
- Destination charges
- Import duties
- Taxes
- Customs brokerage
- Inland transport
- Warehousing
58. Comparing CIF Quotations
Buyers should compare quotations using consistent:
- Product grades
- Specifications
- Quantities
- Packaging
- Destination ports
- Shipment periods
- Insurance coverage
- Payment terms
- Included charges
59. CIF Quotation Validity
A formal quotation should specify how long the offer remains valid.
Freight-related costs may be time-sensitive.
No quotation validity has been confirmed.
60. Currency and Exchange Rates
International quotations may use a mutually agreed currency.
Buyers should consider exchange-rate exposure where relevant.
61. Payment Terms
Payment terms must be agreed with the contractual seller.
Potential considerations include:
- Payment method
- Currency
- Documentary requirements
- Payment schedule
- Bank account verification
62. Letter of Credit
Some buyers may request payment by documentary letter of credit.
Document requirements should be compatible with the sales contract and Incoterm.
No particular payment arrangement is guaranteed.
63. Pre-Shipment Inspection
Independent inspection may be requested, subject to supplier agreement and service availability.
The inspection scope may include:
- Packaging
- Quantity
- Product identification
- Loading
- Documentation
64. Independent Laboratory Testing
Buyers may request independent laboratory testing.
Sampling procedures, test methods, costs and acceptance criteria should be agreed in advance.
65. Cargo Claims and Insurance
The buyer should understand the applicable claims procedure and documentation requirements.
Insurance does not eliminate the need for appropriate cargo handling and risk management.
66. CIF Quotation Exclusions
A formal quotation should clearly identify exclusions.
Depending on the transaction, exclusions may concern:
- Import duties
- Taxes
- Destination handling
- Inland transport
- Storage
- Additional insurance
- Independent inspection
- Additional testing
67. Changes After Quotation
A quotation may require revision if the buyer changes:
- Destination port
